26 Jan 7 Reasons I’m Having a Love Affair with Oil
I know that we typically don’t discuss skin care on here. Well, that’s because I am still trying to figure out what works for me. But one thing that’s working for me, believe it or not, is oil and it’s several uses.
This is surprising for numerous reasons, the first and most important being that I have an oil slick for a face. So obviously, it wouldn’t make sense to put oil anywhere near my face. Or so I thought.
It all started back at the Nordstrom Cosmetic Trend Show. I learned that drying out your skin kicks your skin into overtime trying to hydrate itself with oil. Don’t be alarmed, but let’s talk science for a minute.
Remember back in school when we learned that the oil dissolves oil? So what better way to get oil off your face than oil? Yeeah, oil has done wonder for my skin. Let me tell you how.
- My skin is doing really well since starting Laura Mercier’s Purifying Cleansing Oil. By not stripping it of all its natural oils, my medicines and serums can be absorbed properly.
- Get this, my skin isn’t nearly as oily as it usually is because my face isn’t over compensating on the oil front.
- I like to sweep Tea Tree Oil diluted with water on at night after I wash my face but before my medicines/serums. It is an antiseptic and rids your skin of bacteria.
- Plus, if you have a blemish the Tea Tree Oil dries it out without drying out your skin. Wear this when you’re alone though, it’s preeeetty smelly.
- After the shower, before I dry off, I rub on Mizani Supreme Oil (yes, it’s supposed to be for your hair but ehh) to lock in the moisture so my skin won’t dry out in the harsh weather.
- My hair is even getting in on the oil action with Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Weightless Healing Dry Oil–it makes it super shiny without weighing it down. Bouncy, even.
- The dry oil protects my hair from breakage and spilt ends. I sound like a commercial, LOL. But seriously, plus a little bit of oil on my scalp regulates oil production on my face the way the cleansing oil does on my face.
Hi. I’m Channing and I’m surprisingly in love with oil. I’m sure, I’m late to the party on this, what oils are you ladies loving?
