Marie Clarie’s Maura Kelly Should Have Kept Her Big Mouth Shut

Apparently, Kelly has suffered from anorexia, which may have influenced her clear body issues. For her to post on a major publication’s website that she, “finds it aesthetically displeasing to watch a very, very, fat person simply walk across a room,” is just in very, very bad taste. The post was supposed to be a cute post (I’m assuming) about an overweight couple that met at overeaters anonymous that are dating. She’s a dating blogger, it seems like a cute story.

The thing that is completely weird to be about this whole thing, is that she had never seen the show that she was supposed to be writing about. Since when does that count as journalism? Perhaps that is why she had nothing to rely on but her size-ist, insensitive, and cruel opinion. Instead of bashing overweight people, she should have watched the show, actually had something constructive to say, and kept her mouth shut.

Kelly has since apologized for the post and Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles stands by the blogger saying she “Is a very provocative blogger.” “She was anorexic herself and this is a subject she feels very strongly about.”

I have a clip of what Kelly’s editor was referring to when she asked her to blog about whether “people feel uncomfortable when they see overweight people making out on television.” What say you? Does the clip make you feel weird? Did it warrant such a nasty post?
