Do You Exhibit Any SSBs? I Know I Do…

Do you have anything that you like to do when no one is around? When it’s just you? How about certain things that you would never, ever, want someone to see you do? Especially if that someone is someone of the opposite sex?

This is what Carrie Bradshaw likes to call: SSB or Secret Single Behavior. In a bout of insomnia the other day, I popped in a Sex and The City DVD and randomly selected the episode, where Carrie and the girls dish about what they like to do when they are not in the presence of a man. Or anyone else for that matter.

Carrie likes to make a stack of saltines—she puts grape jelly on them. And then she eats them, standing up in the kitchen while reading the latest issue of Vogue. Charlotte likes to examine her pores in one of those huge, scary magnifying mirrors. Miranda likes to put her hands in “those bourgeoisie moisturizing gloves” and watch TV. Only Samantha admitted there was nothing that she was not afraid to do in front of another person.

I definitely exhibit some SSBs. I keep a journal, and every night (I try to anyway), I like to write 10 things that I am thankful for and 10 things that I would like to work on for the next day. When bored, and home alone, I like to conduct media interviews with myself. I pretend that I am talking to whoever will be the next Oprah about how I built my empire. Don’t laugh, I’m serious. Another SSB would be that I slather my face in whatever concoction/smelly face cream or oil I think my skin needs without being embarrassed for having crap on my face.
