A couple weeks back, I was having a delish brunch with my Blay family, when an interesting topic came up. Is there a difference between a blogger and an editor at a magazine? Granted there are obvious perks and benefits to each job but at the very core, what is so different?

Originally it was agreed that a blogger couldn’t be an editor because blogging is more about personal taste, than what a mass of people would like, which is what an editor must consider. They are apples and oranges but that doesn’t mean that bloggers and editors can’t co-exist peacefully.

In fact, they can do more they just co-exist. They can work together on creating magazine ventures. 14-year-old fashion blogger phemon Tavi Gavinson is a blogger with the makings of an editor. The Style Rookie is now a season veteran who is creating a new magazine with founding editor of Sassymagazine Jane Pratt.

This collaboration is truly a testament of the power of the Internet. Tavi has often blogged about her love for the long gone Sassy and how she wishes the young girls of a today had a Sassy to read. Jane Pratt has reached out to Tavi, together the two hope to create a teen magazine that uses “ Sassy as a point of reference that for the whole teen magazine-that-doesn’t-suck thing.”
