15 Dec Robin Givhan Will Make Me Read Newsweek
The only fashion writer to receive a Pulitzer Prize, Robin Givhan is leaving The Washington Post after 15 years. She will join the staff of Newsweek and The Daily Beast.
I can’t wait to see what she will write as a Style and Fashion correspondent. I love her snarky take on analyzing politician’s wardrobes that made her famous.
In August of 2009, she criticized First Lady Michelle Obama for wearing shorts on vacation. “Avoiding the appearances of queenly behavior is politically wise. But it does American Culture no favors if the first lady tries so hard to be average that she winds up looking common,” she said. How can you not love her?! She said it so elegantly.
So it looks like I might actually read a Newsweek, the last time I did that, had to have been at a doctor’s office.
