OMG, My Baby is One!

When I started Channing in The City, she (yes, my blog has a gender, doesn’t everyone’s?) was just something to keep me busy. Something to do until I found my job.

I still haven’t found that job, but this blog has lead to some pretty awesome opportunities, I can’t lie. This has been a good year. A lot happened and I would like to share a few of my more memorable firsts with you guys.

• This was my very first post!
• My very first product that I was sent to review was Karen’s Body Beautiful’s Luscious Locks Hair Mask. I still love this stuff!
• Speaking of reviewing products, I started doing videos for Centric TV’s CultureList blog! Though, I had to stop due to techinical difficulties, I do written reviews and the videos will be back shortly!
• I was stopped on the street to be photographed for a style blog!
• Oh gosh!! My verrry first YouTube video, I was so awkward in front of the camera! I get better, I promise!
• I started a web series, kind-of.
• One of my favorite blogs, Clumps of Mascara featured lil ole me!
• My first outfit of the day, boy, oh boy, I have I improved!
• Aww, my first time photographing my manicure. You know that my mom mocks me about this? She paints her nails and then sends me the picture of her posing her hand? Smh, she’s a mess.
• My first “boring” manicure! Usually I need more color but this has come to be one of my faves.
• Clearly, I’m big on anniversaries. I celebrated my first month and sixthmonth anniversary of the blog. I told you I treat her like she’s my child.
• I went to Oakland, CA for the first time and enjoyed it!
• Remember Anthony’s season of Project Runway? I loved him…
• And them…
• My business cards! I love them, and I love whipping them out, they are such a conversation starter.
• Carrie Bradshaw’s words of wisdom!
• I visited Carrie Bradshaw’s stoop! I swear, I could picture Big’s car waiting at the bottom for her. Sigh…
• ME! All wrapped up in a little blue box… hehe…
• I was my mom’s entourage during her photoshoot!
• I breathed the same air as Karl Lagerfeld!!
• Something about this vest makes me look like a viking. Oh, and a llama butt.
• I attended industry events for the first time! I was reunited with theQueen and my dream oil.
• I got over my fear of combat boots.
• I fell in love with the Shatter! I can’t stop using it!
• My first nail tutorial is hot as tamaaaalessss
• 2010: The recap
• AH!! I went backstage during New York Fashion Week!
• My brother is some sort of fashion expert. Clearly.
• I turned 24!!

I had NO idea, that I would choose so many posts, when I started this for today. I had so much fun reading old posts and seeing how much things have changed.

Channing in The City has almost become a scrapbook and a journal. This process has been so healing to me. Blogging is something that I genuinely enjoy. And when I haven’t posted anything on here for a day or two, I miss her.

This past year has been amazing! My hair has grown, my skin is clear, my writing has improved, and you know the crazy thing? In trying to find my style– and way to New York, I found something much, much better.
