05 Oct Happy 50th Anniversary Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Fifty years ago, today, New York City’s original ‘It’ girl, Holly Golightly made her debut on the big screen in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
This has been one of my favorite movie (and book!) for years. There was a time when I literally watched this movie every night for a month straight. I think I was home on a holiday break and it was the only movie I brought with me.
It wasn’t the Givenchy clothing, or the shots of New York City in the 60s that did it for me. Though gorgeous, it was Holly’s determination to be happy– in New York City.
Call me naive but I for the life of me, didn’t know that she was an, er, escort until recently!
I just thought she was an oh, so chicly dressed mess and I related to her in her quest for love and happiness (minus the escort thing). Plus, she paved the way for Carrie Bradshaw, don’t you think?
I still relate to her 🙂
Have you ever seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Did you love it? Can you believe it’s been 50 years since the movie came out?
