What? Don’t you do that when you’re speaking to someone that you aren’t especially comfortable with? Speak extra proper? A little higher? 

But what I really was saying was don’t you subliminally try to let whoever is on the other side of the phone know that you are like them? You’re ‘good?’ You come from a ‘good’ family? I mean, you wouldn’t want them to think differently of you or sneak in a stereotype because of your skin color, right?

No. I don’t care what someone I don’t even know thinks of me.
And he’s right. He never has. It’s one of my favorite things about him. He just lives. Despite the fact that he may seem intimidating because of his size, skin color, where he came from, or all three. He just lives.
After reading this, that’s all anyone can do in this world. Just live.Especially if you’re colored. Or female. Actually, anyone who’s different. But especially if you’re colored.
