13 May This One’s For You, Mommy!
I am such a firm believer that one of the most important relationships that we can have in life is with our parents. We learn so much from them but it isn’t always because of the words that come out of their mouths.
But what they do when they’re not preaching at you that makes all the difference.
And giving you the space to grow, make mistakes and come back when life knocks you back on your butt.
That’s my mom for me.
Our relationship hasn’t always been easy. Remember high school, Mom?
No matter what mistakes my brother or I have made (or continue too) she’s there. Always ready with a hug, prayer, money or a swift side-eye should we get out of hand.
It’s nice when you realize that you like your parents as people. That you respect them, not because you have to but because you know that they deserve it.
My brother and I didn’t get cards this year. I wanted too long to go get them and all the good ones were picked over. So I asked him if he wanted to add anything to this post.
All he said was tell her, without her, I don’t know where I would be. Well, that makes two of us.
We thank you for being so graceful, helpful and kind, whether you knew we were watching or not.
I also want to wish my Godmom a Happy (God)Mother’s Day. I’m so glad my mom chose you for me. You’re so funny and inspiring and I thank you for always being so supportive.
This woman (and her husband above) drove me roses all the way from Virginia on my 25th birthday! I’m starting to see why I have such high standards when it comes to the men in my life.
Look how the women treat me!
Happy Mother’s Day =)
