5 Style Lessons Courtesy of My Mama!

1. Leopard is a Neutral

Leopard goes with everything. Seriously. My mother owns leopard shoes, the lovely leopard coat she’s wearing above, a million leopard scarves, a leopard sweater, you see where I’m going with this? You can never have enough, it adds a fun pop to whatever you’re wearing.

2. Always Be a Lady

My mom is one of–if not thee most–ladylike women I know. She throws and attends teas, she collects vintage etiquette books, and when she ‘overheats,’ she doesn’t just fan herself with whatever’s around, oh no, she has a fan in all her bags that she whips out. This isn’t so much a style tip as much as a lifestyle tip to always carry yourself as a lady. That’s a special thing to be 🙂

3. Work Your Wardrobe

My mom goes to a lot of Black Ties and she doesn’t wear those long dowdy gowns that the older women where I live seem to favor. Yes, she’s a G for wearing a short dress to a Black Tie event but also smart. She knows that she doesn’t have a use for a closet for of ball gowns but dresses like the one she’s wearing above? She can rework for multiple events. And how do you like the shoes??

4. Take Care of Your Skin

I’m thankful for my mom, she knows that I have problem skin (she gave it to me) and has gotten me on hard drugs courtesy of our derm since I was younger. She taught me to make good use of dermatologists and estheticians and what taking care of your skin looks like at her age. Plus, she barely drinks. I think because one thing that her mom always pointed out to her was what the people who drank heavy’s skin looked like and it definitely made an impact.
