27 Feb Thank You.
Three years ago, today, I did the best thing I’ve done for myself, in like, as long as I can remember. I logged onto Weebly.com and turned my online portfolio for COMM460 into Channing in the City. I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know anything about HTML or writing for web besides that slugs that I would have to write for my packages that I shot (like news blurbs with video, think of a newscast).
I was heartbroken and unsure of myself. I had no job, barely any money and my friends were off chasing their dreams. I was a miserable in more ways than one. I mentally kicked my own butt all over my room for choosing a man over me.
Channing in the City was HOT mess when it first started. My growth is evident in everything, the posts that I did (you could tell what type of post I was practicing writing by the frequency of it) my headers, my pictures, even my writing. As I got more experience, I was able to grow and this blog has been like a scrapbook for me. When I moved to WordPress, I had to literally copy and paste every. single. post. I’ve. ever. written.
But I did it because I want my blog to be the best it can be. I, this might be reaching, imagine this is how my mother feels about me (times infinity, duh). Whatever the blog needed to reach the vision I have, I’m doing it. I have done things that I wouldn’t have ever felt brave enough to do if it wouldn’t have been for you–my little space on the Internet.
For that, I just want to say thank you. In doing that I gave myself permission to chase dreams I didn’t even know I had. To know that a blog got me my job? Like, what? My mom and her friend use to joke that I updated this blog like it was my job but I think this was something that I had to do for myself. I had to be diligent because it I knew that it would pay off, it had too, it was all I had.
This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with something, I think. I’m sure my mom can verify. When I was at the Harper’s Bazaar luncheon, the woman seated beside me asked what was next now that I’m here. That I’m actually Channing in the City. I don’t know.
I really don’t. I didn’t expect to be here this soon. I have to rethink my goals. I need new ones. Bigger ones. Something happens when the impossible becomes possible. Things suddenly seem within arm’s reach.
And before I stretch out my arms, I just want to say thank you.
For everything.
Three is the very first perfect number in the Bible so I know and claim that big things are on the way for you, for us.
You may just be a blog, but you’re mine and I love you. Like whoa. I’m appreciative of everyone who stops by to see what I’m up to, who wishes me well, who shares themselves in the comments so I don’t feel emotionally slutty. You really have no idea what that means to me. It’s everything. So thank you, too. For helping my baby grow. AH! I’m excited, who knew that I could do this for three years and LOVE it.
Here’s to the next year of sequins, nail polish, New York and Carrie Bradshaw.

Especially with the field we want to work in it’s pretty difficult to become truly successful. But you did it and your taking your dream even further. Keep it up, it’s definitely an inspiration for young ladies such as myself. I would love to be where you’re at one day! Good for you and God bless! 🙂

Concerning me and my husband we have owned a lot more MP3 players over time than I can count, like Sansas, iRivers, iPods (typical & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few ages I’ve settled down to one line of gamers.
