13 Mar I Love My Hair… Sometimes.
Sunday morning, I didn’t like my hair. I was bored and ready to cut it. The only thing stopping me was that I didn’t exactly narrow down how short–and I don’t have a hairstylist that I trust yet. I was so tired of my hair. I wanted change. Something that was more me.
Or so I thought.
I wanted something cooler, something with more life. More body. Something. My bun was cute for the first couple of days but now, it was time to go. (in my Rafaki from The Lion King voice) It is time.
You know what it was really time for? Me to wash my stinky hair. The moment I saw it fresh from the towel, I knew I was never serious about cutting my hair. I also wish I was to the point that I left comfortable wearing my hair curly because I really like the way it looked. Although, I know nothing about how I would care for my hair like that. So. There’s that. But my hair cut still looks good.
Actually, the shampoo I used is why I think I liked my hair wet. I used Pantene Truly Natural products. Funny story, when I was relaxed, I loved their Relaxed & Natural line, you know something’s good when it works magic when it’s time for a touch-up. Now that I’m natural, I’m all about Truly Natural, obvi. Especially the Clarifying shampoo. My hair gets oily like nobody’s bidness and this had me hair blowing in the wind (fabulous).
Except, it rained. And now my hair is huge. Without any curl, it looked like it was never done.
Interestingly enough, I went to this party for work a fancy department store. I’d been looking forward to this party all week. I wore sequins. I had clean hair. I get there and I felt the most awkward I’ve felt in a very long time. Remember how Carrie compared herself to Big’s ex Natasha? She called her beige? And Carrie’s… not? Totally not beige moment for me.
Remind me to tell you the story about how I sat in the corner for most of it and my mom had to give me a pep talk via text. Don’t tell my boss.
So I’m going to rock this big clean hair like I mean it now, no matter where I am.

p.s. Compensation was provided by Pantene via Glam Media. I love my big hair, though, promise.

Posted at 15:21h, 13 Marchi’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now & i love it. one day, hopefully, i’ll end up in ny exploring the city like you. anyway, i just wanted to say that it might take some getting used to seeing your hair not straight. being natural myself, it took me a while. but over time, i grew to love it. plus, you can straighten it any time you want. your confidence will build, trust me. and there are TONS of natural hair websites, lOl, to help you along your way whatever you choose.

Posted at 18:01h, 13 MarchI agree with Yvette, it takes a minute to get comfortable with how one’s hair can look when going natural. But you have a fab cute; never makes decisions about your natural hair when it’s dirty.

Posted at 11:36h, 17 MarchThanks! I’m not sure if it has a name but it’s cut really close in the back, without being shaved, the sides thinned out, with the a lot of volume on the top. Does that make sense?
Thanks, Boo 🙂
