12 Jan Tempin’ Ain’t So Bad
I wore shorts the other day. Lace shorts, without tights.
Hold on, wait.
So maybe, just maybe, I am a little excited about getting dressed and having a place to go again.
I’ve been temping for two fashion companies. It isn’t so bad.
On some days, I work work in both offices. Mornings in one, afternoons in the other, come home, write and hope it isn’t so downtrodden I won’t want to post it to my blog. That’s hard. I’ve always felt like the good outweighed the bad here, and you could spend your lunch break with me, or read over a cup of tea. Chuckling at me finding my way in the city, with a little outfit inspo and a cool glimpse of New York life.
Plus, between assignments, I would literally handwrite my posts. I would get an idea and play with it until I had to scribble something down as to not lose the thought. When I finally got home, I would revisit, edit, rework, but usually, for some reason, I loved it as is.
“Everyday with Channing is a fashion show,” the office manager told a customer shopping the in-office sample sale while I straightened up.
Inwardly, I cringed. My mother would be horrified. Her voice rang out in my ears, “everything is not a fashion show, Channing! Just get dressed!”
Hehe.
I paired the look with over-the-knee socks, a turtleneck, my J.Crew color blocked coat and a shaggy vest from H&M.

I like that outfit, ____ said. “You look like such a cute fashion girl.” And I was, thankfully, I didn’t have to temp outside of the industry that has my heart.
“I’ll give you MY phone and call YOU!” a man shouted, ready to hand to me his heart, as I walked by with my mom and one of her best friends in Herald Square when I rewore the outfit. Not going to lie, I thought about taking his phone. I mean, he offered and it was a 6, so…
How’s that for a glimpse into this new(ish) New Yorker’s life?
