‘Why Don’t You’ is my weekly tribute to legendary editor Diana Vreeland who penned a column of the same name for Harper’s Bazaar for 26 years begging, “Don’t just be your ordinary dull self. Why don’t you be ingenious and make yourself into something else?”

So I’m seeing this trend all over the place. And I want to know what you think of it.

When  I think of this particular item, it’s usually worn by men, athletes, in my mind, too lazy to put their clothes on, and are wearing basketball shorts, socks… and Adidas shower slippers.

So, I didn’t think much when I saw that Misha Nonoo’s models were wearing  Adidas slippers on their feet during her resort collection last year.

Fashion tends to be a bit… impractical.

Phoebe Philo showed a version of the shoe in her Resort 2014 collection for Celine in tan leather worn with a fox fur coat that hit just below the knee.

A fox fur coat, I can get down with, but I’m not so sure about the shower shoes. And I wondered if real girls would embrace this trend.

That’s the question.  It turns out they are.

Eva Chen is wearing them on her Instagram, making me want to consider it. Fausto Puglisi created a pair of leather shower shoes, covered in crystals, for Spring 2015—I may or may not be intrigued by these.

Which begs the question, with temperatures (hopefully) rising, is this a trend that you’ll try? Why don’t you wear a pair of  shoes inspired by Adidas shower slides? Perhaps with a graphic print dress?
