07 Aug Off the 6: Bar Roma
Writing about what I wore on the 6 train is only half of the adventure. This is Off the 6, a series where I document what happens when I get off the train and explore New York.
Despite the idea of this new series—that I explore New York, courtesy wherever the of the 6 train takes me—most weekends, I am completely fine exploring the Upper East Side.
It’s full of little gems up and down the side streets. City charm minus the crowds.
My mom was in town. We’re were going to have brunch with Yasmein and whenever anyone visits, I’m always super proud of how much fun (and culture!) we can take in without leaving my ‘hood.
We wearing walking on Lexington Avenue toward my favorite crepe place when somehow it was decided that we should have food food. We were going to head downtown eventually to go to the New Whitney and I just wanted to be sure no one would be cranky.
Bar Roma looked inviting. The windows opened out to the street and the awning felt European. It was tiny and quaint. We barely looked over the menu as we headed in.
There were two women already seated, speaking french, cradling red wine with manicured nails. Another woman sat reading quietly, sipping her bellini.
I loved the atmosphere immediately.
An open-air kitchen was directly behind us and all sorts of goodness scented the place. Yaszy asked the manager what the chef was making and he brought us over a small sample. Handcut spaghetti noodles in a buttery, garlic sauce.
I’ll definitely be back for dinner.
