Franca Sozzani Knows The Allure of Black

Last week Vogue Italia’s editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani took to her blog again (this woman has quite an opinion) to discuss whether she thought she thought skin color was still an issue in the fashion industry. Her answer was a resounding no.

“I’ve explained many times this argument in my posts, in December for example when the Washington Post mentioned Vogue and Vogue.it as a publication that cares for black girls.”

She credits the lack of diversity in the industry to “Laziness in the research or scouting. No other reason.”

Sozzani has shown black girls that Vogue Italia cares for them with the groundbreaking all black issue. I still read that issue, well look at the pictures, because the it was so pretty. She has done it again with Black Allure, a spread featuring nothing but gorgeous black models.

I commend Sozzani on her willingness to break out of the box realize that people of all colors appreciate fashion and would love to see themselves on those pages.I can’t wait to get my hands on the actual issue out now.Images Courtesy of Searching For StyleVogue ArchivesStyleite
