02 Mar What Would Anna Wintour Do?
The fashion industry was thrown into a tailspin at the news that John Galliano, Christian Dior’s designer had been suspended following his arrest over an alleged anti-semantic assault in a Paris bar on Friday.
Now, another person has come forward saying that she was verbally assaulted by the designer as well and a video surfaced of Galliano in that same Paris bar spewing, well, I’ll let you see.
This video seems to be the straw that broke Dior’s back because it was announced that Galliano was fired! The industry seems divided on the issue. Natalee Portman, the face of Dior’s Miss Cherie perfume, said that she wanted nothing to do with Galliano. Vogue Italia‘s Franca Sozzani defended his actions while designer Patricia Field feels Galliano’s behavior is a farce, he’s just playing a character.
Paris Fashion Week has started. So my question is, if you are an editor or blogger (hehehe) covering the shows, should you still go to the Dior show? John Galliano will be showing his own line too. Both are scheduled to show the Fall 2011 line’s on Sunday. Do you think either of the labels will be tainted by this scandal?
I wonder what Anna Wintour will do?And more importantly, who will design for Dior now?
