16 Sep Happy Birthday, Mommy!
Today is my Mother’s birthday. I won’t put her age out there because I didn’t clear it with her first but if you knew, you wouldn’t believe it, I promise.
I thought long and hard about what to get my mommy for her special day and I couldn’t come up with anything that matches up to what she’s given me.
So I want to say thank you to her publicly.
For laughing at my jokes.
For praying with/for me.
For letting me test out beauty products on you.
For helping my get my hair/skin healthy again. Whew, lawd, thank you.
For our trips to Chic-Fil-A and Ulta (don’t judge us).
For being there no matter if I needed a hug, money, to be put in my place or someone to watch trashy reality tv with me.
For talking about me everywhere she goes. She has more of my business cards than her own.
For being my best friend. This is the longest I’ve been home since I was 18, and I really love how close we’ve become.
Most of all, I want to thank you, because you believed in me, when I didn’t even believe in myself.
When I started Channing in The City a year and a half ago, you saw no reason why I couldn’t have everything that I saw for myself and you’ve helped me in every possible way that you could.
I really don’t know where I would be without you and your support. I just hope that your day is as wonderfully special as you are.
Happy Birthday, Mommy
