Backstage Beauty at #NYFW: Peter Som

Friday morning I had the pleasure of being invited backstage at Peter Som’s Spring ’12 collection showing at Milk Studios to watch the genius behind Estee Lauder’s Pure Color line–Tom Pecheux– work.

Together he and MAC created a look that had the, “Flavor of the sixties with a banana purple eye… makeup in a cool, playful way.

Here’s how to get the look using all MAC products:

On The Face:

MAC Pro Sculpt Sculpting Powder Pro Pallete- blended over natural looking skin to emphasize contours

Fluer Power Powder Blush and Peaches Sheertones Blush- blended together and softly dusted over the apples of your cheeks with 129 Brush for a flush

On The Eyes:
Young Venus in Extra Dimenision Eye Shadow (available in Spring/Summer 2012)- dusted over eyelids with 242 Brush for a soft highlight

On The Lips:

While Tom Pecheux held it down with MAC working on the girl’s makeup, Eugene Souleiman made sure the girls walked down the runway with their hair looking good.

Souleiman is the Wella Professionals Global Creative Director of Care & Styling. He describes the look as “kind of bad hair for a bad girl coming from a rich family.”

The hair is slightly ‘60s inspired with a modern twist to make the look cooler without eliminating the glamour.  With that, the hair features a deep side part with hair swooped to the opposite side of the face and tousled with texture that takes the finish out of the hair but maintains the style.  Simply put, “it’s an undone ‘do approached in a classic way,” says Eugene.

That modern twist being colored hair extensions worked into the models’ hair.
