Dreams Do Come True: Meet Crystal Whalum of MySTONEnyc

Meet Crystal Whalum. She’s the creator and owner of MySTONEnyc. An online accessories boutique with an affinity for New York based designers.

You know that anything New York related holds a special place in my heart. Crystal wanted bring a bit of New York to the south where she is from and so MySTONEnyc was born!

She stocks pieces from designers like Melody Eshani, Tarina Tarantino and Five and Two–who’s bracelet I’m wearing below:

1.Tell us a bit about yourself.

To sum it all up: Mother, Wife, Business owner, Lover of life, laughter & all things beautiful …& believer of dreams.

2. I’m all about a girl following her dreams, how did you make yours a reality?

Me too! I created a plan on how to execute my vision and with a bit of a push from those around me, I boldly made the first steps and the ball just kept rolling!  

3. How did you know a job in fashion was for you?

I’ve always loved beautiful things: jewelry, clothes, trinkets, art.  But jewelry was always my thing and growing up around my grandmother who had a furniture store, it was always a dream of mine to have my own boutique.  I tried a few other things out career wise but this just fits!

4. How would you describe your style? Is it reflected in the designers you carry?

Bold, Comfy, Fun, Feminine.  My style is definitely reflected in the designers we carry but most importantly, we make sure the designers mission coincides with the mission of STONEnyc which is to empower women to embrace who they are and create a style that’s uniquely their own.

5. How did you choose the designers you carry? Do you have a favorite piece?

All of our designers are independent designers with missions that align with that of STONEnyc.  They all have unique handcrafted collections that make bold statements and are fun to wear.  My favorite is the Venetian Bead Fringe Necklace by Fennimas (pictured below).

6. What is the last app you used on your phone?

Instagram

7. Name five things I would find if I peeked into your bag.

Extra Jewelry. At least 4 different lipsticks/glosses. Credit Card. iphone. Something Baby related (I just had a baby boy!)

8. What’s next for you?

Expanding the STONEnyc Brand… think: design & brick and mortar
