28 Feb Carrie and the City
I know that life is not Sex and the City.
But I keep having ‘Carrie’ moments. Looking at these pictures, I’m remembering them. It started because I broke my ‘Channing’ necklace. I like to wear it with everything, even when you can’t see it. I know it’s there and it makes me feel good. There is a Bauble Bar here in New York so when I get a moment, I most definitely will go see why this broke not even six months after getting it. Remember when Carrie lost hers?
Last night I ran into a kind of friend on the way home. She’s cool and we have a mutual friend in common. As we waited for the M79 bus, we both checked our bank accounts and ruled out the Thai food we wanted. Instead we went into Duane Reade where I bought Special K cereal, milk and her, crackers to make her soup more hearty. We did, however, get magazines. Hers for research and me, well, because I couldn’t have thai food and the magazine would make me happy. It was W and massive. Remember when Carrie said that when she first moved to the city she bought Vogue instead of dinner because it fed her more? I subscribe to Vogue back home other wise I would have gotten that, King Bey’s on the cover.
When I ran into the friend I just mentioned, I told her that I was surprised that I liked taking the bus. When I get off at my stop and walk out of the subway, past the Museum of Natural Science, I literally gasp, it looks so pretty at night. I can’t wait to do outfit pictures or something there. Anyway, I told her that I was surprised I liked taking the bus. I like being able to see where I’m going and they’re so nice. Much nicer than what I expected. Her response? I know right, Sex and the City always made the bus seem like, and she made a face, but I prefer it.
At night, I don’t have a TV in my room–or much of anything else for that matter–I watch Sex and the City episodes on HBOGo until my eyes close.
I know Carrie isn’t real. And Sex and the City isn’t life. But I have to tell you, Carrie and her memories that are littered all over this city, make being Channing in the City that much more, I don’t know. Surreal.
Or something.
Have you ever felt like that about a character? Think about he or she like a real friend?

Posted at 18:28h, 28 FebruaryI am not Sex in the City fan but I do admire how you really are adapting to NY city life. I cant believe you dont mind taking the bus. I remember when you are your brother were young, I parked the car and told you both we were taking bus to mall, just so you would experience what people use when they dont own a car. I remember you both were not too happy!!

Posted at 00:59h, 01 MarchThank you! I know, I was so proud of myself the first time I did it without Marie. I think I actually like the bus better, I can see, I can text, just moves slower. LOL, I probably didn’t, I think the bus in Harrisburg is different, plus I was spoiled then LOL

Posted at 04:29h, 01 MarchI have tons of Carrie moments, and I’m not even in NYC. I was just thinking about that “fed me more” quote while in the shower the other day. Being married with a child, I don’t exactly have that luxury of forgoing food for periodicals anymore! But I do remember buying ramen noodles and using my last few dollars to rent a new SATC DVD each day on my way home from work.
I look forward for more posts like this from you!

Posted at 11:48h, 01 MarchWe definitely debated for a good 5 minutes about whether or not we should get ramen because of the high sodium but I definitely think ramen comes in handy especially if that money could be used elsewhere.
Thank you! I’m so surprised but pleased that you guys don’t mind that style has taken a bit of a backseat to life here on the blog.
Do you have any SPAM catchers that you like? I can’t stand CAPTCHA either but I’m not sure what else to use.

Posted at 11:19h, 01 MarchHmmm… there are so many! lol My friends say that I’m a personality clone of Joan from Girlfriends. (I’ll take that because I love her!) Also, I love Lauren Conrad; she’s definitely the Cali girl BFF that I’ve always wanted!

Posted at 11:45h, 01 MarchI LOVE Joan, we used to joke that one of my BFFs would be her in real life. OMG, how could I forget about Lauren Conrad, I STILL consider her a friend in my head. I like your picks 🙂

Posted at 13:46h, 01 MarchThanks, Taliah! Isn’t she real?? I feel like we could be friends in real life, or she would be the cool older lady I want to be.
