Life in NYC

Saturday will make it exactly three months since I was laid off. I’m not saying it for pity or sympathy. I’m okay. Really, I promise. In this really weird way, I’ve become whom I wanted to be when I first moved to New York City. I was...

Wearing ASOS dress, Kate Spade necklace, DVF pumps, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Tote on Park Avenue in New York City I kind-of miss when my blog read more like a diary. So in an effort to work on that and venture out, actually showing New York life on the blog, I created a bucket list of tourist-y things that I want to do. The idea is I will take the required outfit of the day photos—finally acknowledging the fashion blogger part of me—hopefully have a cool experience, reporting back with a story. Hold me to it. And to hold myself accountable, I’m going to tell you the NYC attraction checklist that I have. If I do not report back with outfit photos and a corresponding story for each of these places by August 13, 2015 (giving myself a year to properly plan these excursions), cuss me out.

One of the first writers that I was ever drawn to, fashion-wise, was Zandile Blay. She was the market editor at Paper magazine, Style & Culture columnist for the Huffington Post and then became the fashion editor at Essence.com before leaving for Nigeria to become Editor-in-Chief at Hello! Nigeria. She's back stateside now, working as a fashion/beauty journalism professor at Syracuse University and Editor-at-Large of Scene magazine.

Last summer, I fell in love with a few very specific items from MissGuided. One you absolutely have seen (both on the blog and in real life) because I wear it every chance I get. It is the perfect dress, it works for every occasion and is...

I am really trying to take advantage of all the fun, cool experiences that New York has to offer. So when one of my friends asked me if I was down to go on a Grouper--a social club that sets up drinks between 2 groups...

Tuesday night was one of those signs that let me know God was speaking to me. One of the benefits of having a best friend in the same industry as me is that she will pass along my email to events that she knows I would...

On Saturday, my mom created a New York milestone for me: an afternoon Eloise-themed belated birthday tea at The Plaza.  I had no idea how majestic The Plaza was when I would read Eloise books as a child. I just knew that it was a magical...

Here on The City, we are all about cultivating personal style, luckily, we can look to some of our favorite celebrities for a few style lessons. Or I guess that should read: 5 Style Lessons I Learned Living in New York City. I've officially been Channing in...

I think it's important that you know that I went to school in the mountains. Penn State is literally in the middle of the state of Pennsylvania. Surrounded by, yup, that's right, mountains. For four years, I became accustomed to be being accosted with snow in...
